ORIGIN from Yugoslavia

 

Head   Long and narrow.

Eyes * Dark, round and full, not prominent.

Ears * Thin, broad, set on above level of eyes, narrow toward tips.

Muzzle *  Medium size and well proportioned to head. 

Nose* Black and self-colored according to coat. 

Bite * Scissor or level. 

Neck * Strong, without dewlap, slightly arched. 

 

 

Topline   Level. 

Chest * Moderately broad, deep. 

Body *Medium sized. 

Legs * Powerful, clean, well set. 

Feet * Compact. Tail: Medium length, carried in slight curve. 

Movement *Good reach, with well balanced movement. 

Temperament * Energetic, free-spirited, with good movement.


 

SIZE   The Istrian Hound’s height is 18-21 ½ inches and weight is 35-52 pounds.

Coat  *  Istrian Hound’s coat is short and fine

Color  * This breed’s colors are white with yellow or orange markings, primarily on the ears.

This   breed  is distinct from other similar breeds by their coloration. The Istrain Hound is mainly admired for its bloodtrailing abilities. His game includes fox, hare, and wild boar.

 

 

Faults Any departure from the foregoing points should be considered a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree.

Note * Male animals should have two apparently  normal testicles fully descended into the scrotum.
