Italian greyhound

,

This is the smallest breed of true greyhound. Its origin is uncertain but it seems likely that the breed was first bred by Italian courtiers in Medieval times. It was a somewhat larger and stronger dog then that was used to hunt rabbits and aid falconers. Selective breeding latertransformed the breed into the dainty pet of today, characterized by its elegance and high stepping gait. This is a ideal pet for town, but but still a dog that like plenty of exercise, and can run with the best over fields. He has a Dresden - like quality, but is by no means delicate.
