SIZE VARIETIES OF THE DACHSHUND The German Standard of the Breed allows for three sizes: full size, miniature size, and the yet smaller size of the Kaninchenteckel. In each size there are the three coat varieties: smooth, long, and wire. In other words, there are in Germany nine distinctly different varieties of Dachshunds and each of these varieties may occur in the many different colors shown in the Standard.

The chest measurement limited to 11 3/4 inches ( 30 cm.) Weight at the age of 15 months, approximately 7 3/4 lbs, .

| Miniature
Dachshund Chest measurement is not allowed to exceed 13 3/4 inches (35 cm.) This is taken from the crest of the withers around the body by the deepest point of the keel, measured closely. Weight at the age of 15 month, approximately 9 lbs.
