Description The Ocherese is a relatively new breed of dog that originated in the United States in the 1970s as a companion animal.Ocherese are gentle and kind dogs. They are extremely affectionate, eager to please companions. They are also extremely intelligent, and obedient dogs that love to learn tricks. They are trusting and easily excitable, sprightly and energetic. Like their ancestors (the Maltese, Poodle, and the Pekingese) Ocherese are attractive and spirited animals.Full-grown Ocherese grow to a height of 9 to 12 inches and will weigh in between 5 and 12 pounds. Its coat is long, soft, and silky, and it should have a thin, but apparent undercoat. They come in all colors, including parti-colored. Ocherese are covered from head to tail with silky, non-shedding hair and have a beautifully feathered tail. Their eyes are not set far apart, like the Pekingese (its ancestor), but they are very dark and round with black rims. Their eyes give them an aware, intense expression. Their body is dense, with short, feathered legs. The Ocherese was developed by Janet Dilger, using a Maltese and a "Peek-a-Poo" (a Pekingese mated with a Toy Poodle). They were originally bred in a small, German town in Indiana called Mariah Hill.
