Cahill World Champion

The
Staffordshire Bull Terrier was created in the nineteenth century when
the Old English Terrier was crossed whit an earlier type of bulldog.
Bred for dog fighting, the breed declined in the 1930s when the sport
was declared illegal. To keep the breed from becoming extinct. fanciers
in the Staffordshire worked to get the breed recognized by The Kennel
Club of great Britain. This was accomolished in 1935. It was then
recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club in 1952 and the American Kennel
Club in 1974. It is a contributor to the American Staffordshire Terrier
and the American pit Bull Terrier that are larger and taller.Another
difference is that ears of the staffordshire are not cropped. You must
know one of the most popular of the Terriers, is the Staffordshire Bull
terrier. Well the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is renowned for his
courage, which can unfortunately lead him into bad ways with other dogs
owing to his great tendency to get his retaliation in first. With the
human race he is kindness itself. He is descended from a cross between
the Bulldog and a terrier, and thuscombines the temperamental make up of
two breeds. Fortunately his genuine love of children is very well known.
So a Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a born fighter is the perfect
combination of the Bulldog and the old English Terrier of the
seventeenth century. He posseessed the strength and the gameness of the
Bulldog with the speed and agility of the Terrier. The performance of
this cross was tested in the dog pit and therefor, natural selection,
over a period of decades produced the perfect fighting machine. Well
despite his historical connection with fighting , he has become a great
favourite in the show ring, but this has not been allowed to affect his
traditional rugged looks. Once again The Staffordshire Bull
Terriers are and is a devoted family hound. He is gently with the
children but can be ferocious with other animals. He needs plenty of
exercise to maintain his hard muscled physique.
